So while I was decorating this past week, I kinda fell into an idea that totally helped me arrange my greens and keep them that way. So many times, I have been looking for that craft Styrofoam to poke the branches in and I didn't have any and I wasn't going to go out and buy any. I looked at my pile of sticks and knew that that was the solution. I was right! Sticks work just like a flower frog to hold your branches in place.
Don't know what a flower frog is?
It's this thing-a-majiggy:
You put your frog in the bottom of your vase or container and then put your stems in the holes. Your stems stay where you put them.
So how do you make sticks work for you? First save them! They are FREE with your Christmas Tree branch cast offs. Break them down into the usable sizes and just layer in the bottom of the container that you are using. Make sure you make them touch the sides of the container.
Now add your first layer of big branches around the outer edge of your container. Weave the stems into the sticks.
Then add another layer of smaller branches in same circular way. Make sure the stems weave into the bottom layer of branches.
Finish with a layer of your smaller branches and I like to add some left over slender sticks for added interest.
And your done! Free and fast.
Two words I love to use during the holidays!
