Well, I was sick for Christmas this year and I think my husband has been referring to it as "the kennel cough". So I am very late in getting the photos of the holiday decorations up I guess. But I hate to see Christmas end so I am still going to post how I decorated this year and since my husband is half Serbian, I am still on time for Serbian Christmas on January 7th!
I am not one to have a "theme" each year although I do like to change it up a bit from time to time just to keep it fresh. I don't have the storage space to change the theme each year plus the memories that are brought back when you take out the old favorites is far more precious to me than looking like a magazine.
I think this will just be mostly photos with a bit of commentary when needed only. I hope you enjoy and are inspired….for next year maybe. At least if any of this does inspire you, you can pick up your supplies at 1/2 off! Now that makes my heart sing…..I am going to take you from the front through to the back so take off your coat and get comfortable!
I love Jesus and He is my reason for celebrating Christmas so that was the only "theme" that was used this year (I guess that makes me a liar, liar, pants on fire). The front starts with his manger…..
Then I made a Star of David out of a foldable yardstick and my old tree skirt was repurposed as His Royal robes
Shepherd's Staff because He is our Shepherd
The porch swing got gussied up a bit
You can make any garland into a wreath just by connecting the ends!
downspouts got some greenery and berries
Come on inside!
I made the pine wreath by wiring bunches of pine from one of the pine garlands to a wire form then added ribbon I already had on hand. Then I just hung it inside an empty frame and hung that in front of the mirror.
shoe forms
Free huge woven something or other from the trash and a $5 bird cage add big impact and cover up an unsightly fireplace
small white lights mixed with large vintage colored lights
loads of homemade ornaments….
make a beautiful tree
old lantern filled with some green bulbs
another star from foldable yardstick
Mini Christmas Trees from old record player springs and sticks
foldable "A" for my A+ husband out of……..foldable yardstick!
greens and a thrift store tree for $3
mini nativity

First nativity I bought as a married woman….
Welcome to the Dining Room
I had so many left over sweaters from my sweater trees last year and the sweeter tree skirt this year, that I made a whole forest!
cookies from my cookie exchange YUM!
even the dog's crate got a little jolly!
a little chalkboard from a $3 thrift store serving tray
another homemade decoration
Does anyone else decorate the bathroom?
This is our little advent tree that we keep on the upstairs landing.
Each day we add another miniature vintage ornament
And finally the backdoor greenery! Yes, if you noticed throughout the house, I didn't use the typical red and green ribbon. I love rich chocolate and creamy white ribbon…..they remind me of hot cocoa!
I know that was long but thanks for hanging around until the end!
Always being renewed,
I'm sorry to hear you were sick on Christmas and hope you're feeling 100% chipper again soon. I'm glad you posted your beautiful decorations, and I love every little detail. (My favorites are those teeny tiny wire trees.) Merry Serbian Christmas and Happy New Year!
